Within the order Ephemeroptera, the smallest mayfly is the Caenis mayfly, measuring only 4-5 mm.
Essential for fishing in the early morning and at dusk during the summer months. A small mayfly with a white abdomen and wings, and a dark thorax. The most commonly used pattern is the spent fly, which imitates an exhausted insect resting on the water.
