Jay Wing Feathers

Fly tying with blue jay feathers is especially interesting for salmon flies, although they are also widely used in various patterns of wet flies and streamers.

The Blue Jay salmon fly is a nice montage with unknown origins but probably originates from the British Isles, as with many old patterns.

Wet flies and jay-feathered streamers are not imitations of any insect, but the feather color and markings are tremendously effective.
