Tungsten Cyclops Metalic Red beads have been designed with a conical circular hole, to introduce the hook and minimize weight loss.

The main reason for the use of tungsten in fly fishing is its high density, 19.3 g/cm3, heavier than lead 11.3 g/cm3 and double that of brass 9.8 g/cm3. Since the rate of sinking in water depends on the density and profile of the object, if you want a fly to sink quickly, you should use tungsten beads.
