Natural silk has a higher density than the synthetic materials used in the manufacture of modern lines, therefore, for the same number of lines, its diameter is clearly smaller. This reduction in diameter makes it possible to gain casting efficiency, especially in strong wind conditions.

Unlike synthetic lines, which are designed for a specific technique, Natural Silk Fly Fishing Lines can be prepared in advance for fishing in a variety of different situations.

If left untreated, a silk fly line acts as a slow sinking intermediate line, but when oiled the line becomes hydrophobic and floats "on" the surface film and not "in" it.
